Division of Behavioral Support Services

MCFS Behavioral Support Program provides culturally targeted therapeutic and case management services to a diverse group of individuals, youth and families through counseling intervention, advocacy, home visits and referrals to community resources.

The primary goal of the Division of Behavioral Support is to enhance and promote the emotional well-being of youths and families who are experiencing difficulties/trauma. MCFS works with individuals and families who have experience trauma related to war, community violence/discrimination, school bullying, domestic abuse and family conflicts. Program Services include the following:

Counseling Services: available for individuals of all ages who are experiencing life difficulties or are in conflict or crisis situations with their family, school or peers. MCFS utilizes a unconventional culturally competent counseling intervention model that addresses the unique needs of African refugees and immigrants populations.

Counseling Intervention services include:

  • Bio-Cultural/Psycho-Social Assessments
  • Social Summaries
  • Individual Counseling
  • Family Counseling
  • Family Mediation
  • Group Counseling
  • Crisis Intervention

Family Based Services: provides community and home-based counseling intervention, case management and support for children, adolescents and families experiencing emotional and behavioral challenges including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), School/ Academic Difficulties, Grief & Loss Reactions, Depression, Physical Abuse/Sexual Abuse and Domestic Violence.

Family Based Services includes the following:
