MCFS Soccer Coach

Coach George Kabbah Moore receives his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Relations from Cheney University

Coach George Moore

When Coach Moore joined the Multicultural Community Family Services and started coaching older immigrant youth in the summer of 2004, he was determined to ensure that each and everyone one of them would make education their priority.  As much as he loved soccer and even coached a professional team in his home country of Liberia, he knew that Soccer was not the means to an end for many of the older immigrant youth he worked with.

Known by his players only as “Coach”, he verbally encouraged and mentored them  to stay in school, get their high school diploma and go on to college or trade school. Coach Moore was very proud to know that many of his “players heeded his advise and enrolled into area colleges and trades schools.
This was particulary pleasing to him, as he himself had dropped out of the Delaware Community College in 2002 because he had to work two jobs to suppport his large immigrant family in Upper and his extended family in Liberia and neighbo.

As the years went by, Coach Moore became very happy to get invitations to college graduations and parties to celebrate achievements of college degrees.  He also realized that it was time for him to return to school and finish what he had started in 2002.  He knew that he needed to put into practice what he had encouraged his players to do- get a college degree.  And so, in September, 2008, Coach Moore returned to Delaware Community College, studied hard and graduated with an associate degree in Sociology.  He later transferred to Cheney University and pursued a degree in social relations.
On May 12, 2012, Coach Moore proudly walked down the aisle to receive hiscollege diploma. He had done it- graduating  Cum Laude!

Coach George Kabbah Moore is the Sports Director for the Multicultural United Soccer Club.  Coach Moore holds a D National Soccer License, a Goal Keeper Level I License from the EPYSA, and the National Soccer Coach Association of America (NSCAA)  Youth  License and High School Coaches Diploma.

Congratulations Coach!  You Did It!
