POYS - Preparing Older Youth for Success

MCFS youth employment program is designed to build constructive relationships and support networks for youth in the community. The forming of these meaningful partnerships with local businesses and other not-for-profit organizations serve the purpose of establishing skill training worksites for the youths.

Program Objectives
t Provide youth with the opportunity for employment, improve career awareness, career exploration and work skills development.

t Provide practical work-based learning experiences for youth

t Assist youth to shape an initial adult identity that includes the development of work-related skills through tangible work experiences

POYS Performance Outcomes

t Provide youth with the opportunity to learn the skills needed for employment.

t Provide youth with career awareness that empowers youth to take ownership of skills learned from summer employment.

t Renewed motivation  for youth to continue their education through high school, GED attainment, completion or enrollment in college or grade school.

Each youth will receive a Work Ready Certificate following successful achievement of a score of 3 or more on the Work Keys Assessment.
